Scuba diving
Diani’s reef delivers coral gardens, walls and a wreck, with green and hawksbill turtles, moray eels, reef sharks and — roughly October to March — the chance of a whale shark. Colobus Conservation
Diani is home to the rare Angolan colobus monkey, and this small conservation centre works to protect them — including the “colobridges” strung over the road to stop road deaths. Culture & heritage
Kaya Kinondo sacred forest
Tucked behind Galu Beach is one of the last patches of the sacred Kaya forests of the Mijikenda people — a UNESCO-listed cultural site. A local guide leads you through the ancient trees, explaining the customs, medicinal plants and spiritual significance of the forest. It’s a quiet, respectful, fascinating hour.
